Occupying a massive third of Australia with its pristine white sand beaches, premium wine regions, otherworldly phenomena and majestic landscapes, Western Australia is a dreamlike place to holiday. It is a vast and incredibly diverse State that is full of natural wonders and activities to explore. From forests and beaches to dramatic outback and wildlife, there’s plenty to see and do in this beautiful part of Australia.

Perth & Fremantle

Encompassing raw natural beauty with cool urban tones, Perth (Boorloo), is where relaxation and adventure go hand in hand. From the vibrant street art, entertainment centres, Aboriginal experiences, and the most stunning parks in the world, you can’t go wrong with visiting Perth on your next trip to Western Australia. Enjoy gourmet delights at the scenic waterfront restaurants or drive down to the Swan Valley for a culinary experience. Relax on one or more of Perth’s 19 pristine beaches, known for snow-white sands and azure blue waters – perfect for a quick dip or a refreshing surf.

Rottnest Island

Hop across the water from Perth via ferry to the relaxed paradise of Rottnest Island (Wadjemup), where you can enjoy a myriad of secluded beaches and bays and captivating flora and fauna, including the resident quokka which has been labelled the “happiest animal on Earth”. Surrounded by the sparkling waters of the Indian Ocean, here, simple island life is pretty good. Rottnest Island not only has the cutest quokkas but there is an endless range of recreational activities including water sports, walking trails and iconic landmarks to explore such as the Wadjemup Lighthouse, the Henrietta Rocks or the rugged Cathedral Rocks and Cape Vlamingh.

Australia's South West

This picturesque and premium wine region of WA is one that boasts world-class wines and gourmet produce, with stunning beaches and towering timber forests to walk through. The Margaret River Region has quickly gained accolades over recent years for producing superb Cabernet Sauvignons and Chardonnays in addition to being home to some of Western Australia’s best beaches and gorgeous natural landscapes. If you happen to be here on a Saturday then don’t miss the local farmer’s market in the Margaret River township for spectacular breads and pastries, gourmet cheeses, fresh fruit and vegetables, freshly brewed coffee and rustic cannoli. Here you can also follow the epic annual migration of humpback, southern right whales, and the rare blue whale, from the food-rich Southern Ocean. Enjoy a walk or train ride over the Indian Ocean on the longest timber-piled jetty in the southern hemisphere in Busselton (Undalup).

Broome and The Kimberley
Explore breathtaking beauty in the Kimberley region with its awe-inspiring wilderness adventures. Originally founded as a pearling port over a hundred years ago, Broome (Rubibi) now boasts a multicultural population with a captivatingly friendly and flamboyant personality that is the heart and soul of this historic town. From here, feel the freedom of the wider Kimberley region, home to true natural phenomena – including the World Heritage-listed Bungle Bungle Range, Mitchell Falls (Punamii-unpuu) and Horizontal Falls (Garaanngaddim).

Home to The World Heritage-listed Bungle Bungle Range, one of the more well-known landmarks here, along with Mitchell Falls and the aptly named Horizontal Falls. The fast-flowing horizontal waters that are a true natural phenomenon are a popular tourist destination for boat cruises and cannot be missed when visiting WA. Enjoy a sunset camel ride on Cable Beach (Walmanyjun) and witness a Staircase to the Moon at Roebuck Bay (Yawuru Nagulagun), a magical sight occurring when the full moon rises at low tides. As the moonlight shines over the exposed mudflats, this creates an optical illusion of a staircase leading up to the moon. This sensation occurs from March to October for three nights in every month. Locals recommend heading to The Bay Club at the Mangrove Hotel for the best view of this magical experience.

Indian Pacific
The famous Indian Pacific train traverses between Perth and Sydney (and vice versa), providing a real appreciation of the distance as you travel through Australia’s vast southern interior either into or out of Perth. Enjoy the train’s all-inclusive dining, fine wines, and Off Train Experiences together with a Perth or Margaret River Region stay for an all-encompassing holiday. Consider travelling during September or October to experience the State’s spectacular wildflower season display, considered one of the world’s largest collections of wildflowers.

From the modern capital city of Perth and the world-renowned Margaret River Region, to the stunning Kimberley and captivating town of Broome, your journey in Western Australia will leave you starstruck.
