Western Australia is a land of dramatic contrasts — from vibrant cities and sun-drenched beaches to world-class wine regions and off-the-grid island escapes. It’s also a place where food tells the story of the land, the people, and the wild beauty that surrounds it. On our 8 day/7 night Taste of Western Australia tour, you’ll explore it all, tasting your way from urban gems to coastal hideaways, each stop serving up its own unique flavour of the West.

This is not your typical sightseeing tour. It’s a curated journey for those who believe that travel is best experienced through the senses. With handpicked meals, premium wine tastings, boutique stays, and unforgettable encounters with nature, this is Western Australia at its most indulgent.

Perth: A Fresh Flavour of the West (2 nights)

Your adventure begins in Perth, a city that’s undergone a stylish revival in recent years. Think riverside walks, cutting-edge architecture, and a food scene that fuses local produce with global flair. After settling into your hotel overlooking the Swan River, the tour kicks off with a relaxed two-course welcome dinner — the perfect opportunity to meet your fellow travellers and soak up the first flavours of WA.

The next day, you’ll dive into the city’s sights, from the famous WACA cricket ground and the architectural marvel of Optus Stadium to the tranquil beauty of Kings Park. Cruise through the elite suburbs and along the coast to Cottesloe Beach, where the Indian Ocean shimmers beneath endless blue skies. Then it’s on to historic Fremantle, a cultural hub packed with Victorian-era charm, bustling markets, and lively cafés. Whether you're browsing artisanal wares or enjoying fish and chips on the harbour, Fremantle's salty air and coastal energy are utterly infectious.

Rottnest Island: Coastal Bliss and Iconic Quokkas (2 nights)

Just a short ferry ride from Perth, Rottnest Island feels like another world. Car-free and carefree, it's an oasis of sun, sand, and serenity. You’ll be staying at Discovery Rottnest, a coastal retreat where luxury glamping meets beachfront tranquillity, nestled among sand dunes and native bushland. With eco-conscious design, plush furnishings, and just steps from the ocean, it’s a serene base for exploring the island’s laid-back beauty.

Days here are yours to savour. Pedal along quiet trails, swim in secluded bays, or join a guided tour to spot the island’s cheeky quokkas and marine life. Take a dip in the turquoise waters of The Basin, snorkel over vibrant reefs, then unwind with a long lunch at Samphire Rottnest, where dishes like freshly grilled seafood, seasonal salads, and local produce take centre stage. Come evening, Pinky’s serves up hearty favourites with a coastal twist — think WA fish and chips, gourmet burgers, and crisp local wines enjoyed against the backdrop of a glowing island sunset.

Margaret River: Wine, Waves & Western Australia’s Gourmet Soul (2 nights)

Back on the mainland, your journey continues south to the celebrated Margaret River region, a paradise for food and wine lovers. You’ll pause in the picturesque town of Mandurah for a waterfront coffee (and possibly a dolphin sighting), then head to Busselton to walk the iconic jetty, the longest in the Southern Hemisphere!

Lunch at The Goose pairs panoramic bay views with fresh, local seafood and vibrant coastal flavours — the perfect introduction to the region’s gourmet scene. Then it’s on to Aravina Estate, where vineyard vistas, award-winning wines, and a stylish cellar door await. Your home for the next few nights is the luxurious Smiths Beach Resort, offering spacious oceanview villas, a superb onsite restaurant at Lamont’s, and a gourmet deli stocked with fine wines and chef-prepared meals, all just steps from the sand and sunset.

Caves, Coastlines & Culinary Icons

From gourmet to geological wonders, the next day begins with a scenic start. Enjoy a beachside coffee at Gnarabup Bay before visiting Surfers Point and River Mouth, where nature puts on a show. Then descend into the dramatic depths of Mammoth Cave, revealing thousands of years of ancient secrets beneath the forest floor.

Lunch is a true highlight at the iconic Leeuwin Estate, where elegant three-course dining is perfectly paired with premium wines in a serene vineyard setting — a celebration of seasonal produce and refined technique. The day is sweetened further with a visit to Gabriel Chocolate, WA’s first bean-to-bar producer (a little indulgence that no one can resist)!

Evenings are relaxed at Smiths Beach, whether you opt for an elegant dinner at Lamont’s or a cheeky takeaway with a bottle of local wine by the water.

Yallingup: The Creative Coast

Your final full day is a feast for both the eyes and the palate. Start with the crashing waves of Canal Rocks, a geological marvel shaped by millennia of wild water and wind. Then it’s time to delve into WA’s artistic side at Yallingup Galleries, showcasing handcrafted pieces from some of the region’s most talented artists.

At Vasse Virgin, you’ll sample gourmet olive oil products and natural skincare — the perfect place to pick up a souvenir. Then it’s on to Vasse Felix, Margaret River’s founding winery, where a guided tasting showcases their acclaimed collection, followed by a superb lunch in their award-winning restaurant. With dishes that celebrate regional produce and culinary artistry, it’s an experience that perfectly captures the essence of Margaret River. As the afternoon sun glows golden across the vines, you’ll make your way back to Perth, full of flavours, stories, and soul-stirring scenery.

One Last Bite of WA (1 night)

On your final morning, enjoy a relaxed breakfast overlooking the Swan River before checking out. Whether you’re flying home or continuing your journey, you’ll leave with more than memories,  you’ll carry the taste of Western Australia with you.

Because A Taste of WA isn’t just about food and wine. It’s about the magic of travel done right: slow, savoury, and utterly unforgettable.
