Part of the Journey Beyond group, Outback Spirit aims to provide some of Australia’s most unique and personal travel experiences. Their range of small group Adventure Tours operate in Tasmania, South Australia, outback Queensland, central Australia, Northern Territory, the Kimberley and beyond. Plus, with some truly unforgettable Desert Safaris and Luxury Short Breaks, explore some of Australia’s most spectacular and lesser-seen sights all with an eco-friendly impact.

As the environment and conservation are at the forefront of Outback Spirit’s list of tours, they regularly review their footprint and impact on nature, culture and history. The company is committed to sustainability through not only their own practices but also via financial donations to the Australian Wildlife Conservancy (AWC). It is also a strong and ongoing supporter of several Aboriginal communities throughout the Kimberley and Arnhem land, creating jobs, offering sponsorships and helping to preserve Indigenous culture. All of this contributes to the authentic, immersive and environmentally friendly aspect of every adventure, making for a more unique and enriching experience.

The 13 day Binns Track Adventure explores the central and north-west corner’s stunning landscape and natural wonders via a specialised Mercedes Benz G Wagon, from Alice Springs to Kununurra, ending in Darwin after a one-way flight from Kununurra. Explore the rugged East MacDonnell Ranges, Arltunga Historical Reserve and Ruby Gap Nature Park while staying at the Hale River Homestead on a beautiful outback station. Continue to Iytwelepenty / Davenport Ranges National Park, being not only breathtaking in beauty (bird lovers rejoice!) and relatively unseen, it also acts as a protector of the land between Central Australia and the Top End. Visit the Karlu Karlu / Devils Marbles Conservation Reserve before a stay in iconic outback town, Tennant Creek, followed by Battery Hill for an underground mine tour. Continuing west, another highlight is the historic Victoria River Downs cattle station, covering over 2.5 million acres and home to around 33,000 cattle! Nearing the completion of the tour, enter the Judbarra / Gregory National Park managed with Traditional Owners, head to the picturesque Limestone Gorge and Jasper Gorge before arriving into Kununurra at sunset to then celebrate and reflect on one heck of an adventure!

The 16 day Canning Stock Route Expedition journeys along the scenic and historic stock route, following in the footsteps of the surveyor of the track, Alfred Canning. It is one of the most remote parts of Australia to travel to, being built back in 1910 out of the very rugged and isolated terrain its purpose was to stop the beef monopoly occurring in the region at the time. Travelling through here is a very unique and once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that very few others have experienced, and why the expertise and competency of Outback Spirits team is required. Beginning in Broome, staying at the famous Cable Beach Club Resort & Spa, the adventure begins in Fitzroy Crossing and then on to Halls Creek. The official start of the Canning Stock Route then starts at Billiluna where over the next 6 days some of the 51 Wells built along the way for drinking water are visited, along with some of the most beautiful waterholes and waterways. Discover Breaden Pool, Guli Lake System and Helena Springs dotted amongst the sand dunes and Great Sandy Desert. Continue to Lake Disappointment, a large dry salt lake, for an amazing panorama at sunset and then on to Durba Springs, one of the safari’s highlights for its truly incredible scenery. Travel to Glen-Ayle Station, then south to Wiluna before arriving in Newman where a celebratory awaits and a flight to Perth the next day concludes this spectacular safari.

View the awe-inspiring landscape and stunning views and explore the rich Aboriginal history crossing the world’s largest parallel sand dune desert on the 14 day Simpson Desert Expedition. Or, with permission from Traditional Owners, experience a ‘Welcome to Country’ in Arnhem Land, home to the world’s oldest surviving culture, as you discover the ancient stories and gain an authentic cultural insight on the 13 day Arnhem Land Wilderness Adventure.

The above small group, intimate experiences include all meals (breakfast, lunch & dinners), a mix of deluxe camping and quality hotel accommodations, professional driver guides and travel in specialised 4x4 or 6x6 Mercedes tour vehicles. Along with plenty of unforgettable moments of magic and newfound friendships forged.
