We spent the New Year period aboard the newly amped Voyager of the Seas and had a fantastic time. My friend and I explored the South Pacific and Fiji and my favourite port of call would have to be Mystery Island in Vanuatu where we went kayaking and snorkelling in the crystal clear waters.

The renovations on Voyager of the Seas were completed in November 2019 and are fabulous. There really is something for everyone on board this ship now. From the water slides, flowrider, rock climbing, ice skating, laser tag and mini golf (let’s be honest these things are not just for the kids but for all ages and abilities, so give it a try) to the relaxing Adults only solarium with new super comfy day beds (great place for a good book, cocktail or a nap).

The shows onboard Voyager of the seas are first class, ranging from comedy, stage shows, illusionists and theme shows (eg 80’s, Queen). My pick of the bunch would have to be the Ice Skating shows - they were amazing. Not only was the performance sensational if we were on land but we were at sea, wow!

We had one of the interior rooms with a view of the promenade. This was great for seeing what was going on around the ship from the comfort of your own room (just don’t forget to close your curtains.)

You can’t go on a cruise holiday without talking about the food. One night we treated ourselves to one of the three specialty restaurants Chops Grill and it didn’t disappoint. This is one for the meat lovers. I would highly recommend spending the extra money to experience a meal in one of the specialty restaurants and treat yourself, you are on holidays after all. It wouldn’t have been a New Year’s cruise without sampling a couple of cocktails and R bar was our go-to spot for a pre-dinner drink. With its funky chairs and lighting it is a cool place to relax and enjoy. There are however so many wonderful places, from the karaoke and pub trivia in the Pig and Whistle to the piano and quizzes in the Schooner bar you can always find something going on. The unexpected highlight was a show called Dancing with the Superstars. Here guests and crew members unite for a winner takes all for the best dancers title. Great entertainment and lots of laughs.

It was wonderful. So where are you cruising to next?
