Galapagos Islands – Terry
My most memorable travel experience was venturing to the Galapagos Islands. The location almost didn’t make the itinerary but I’m so glad it did. The energy of the area was evident upon arrival as beautiful tropical paradise with laid-back atmosphere escaping commercialism. The bountiful natural wonders and geological curiosity of the location were enriched with its deep history as the home of Darwin’s theory of evolution. Each Island offered its own climate, and the wildlife was not only unique to Galapagos collective, but individually adapted biologically to the specific habitat of each island. The memories of snorkelling with the world’s only marine iguanas, and Galapagos seals freely roaming through the city streets and boardwalks will live rent free in my memories forever.
Maui, Hawaii - Dani
My most memorable travel experience was a sunrise tour of Haleakala, a volcano in Maui, Hawaii. A group of students from a traditional Hawaiian school were coincidentally also up there and as the sun made its first appearance for the day, they began to sing a Hawaiian chant. It was the most pure, organic & spiritual experience to top an already stunning moment watching the sun rise from above the clouds. Later I found out that the chant is called ‘E Ala E’ which means to arise & awaken the light within and is sung at sunrise. The park rangers said this very rarely happens so to witness it was very special.
French Polynesia – Ben
My most memorable travel experience of recent times was travelling aboard Ovation of the Seas on a 17-night transpacific cruise from Sydney to Hawaii. It was visiting a destination that had always been on my bucket list – French Polynesia. This cruise had overnight port calls in Papeete, Tahiti & Moorea. We took the opportunity to disembark the ship for a 2-night stay in Moorea and we were absolutely blown away by the natural beauty of towering mountains, lush vegetation, crystal clear waters and blue skies! We’re now planning a return trip to explore the islands of French Polynesia that combine the natural beauty with Polynesian and European influences with amazing restaurants, overwater bungalows, French bakeries, great coffee, beautiful people, and fascinating culture!
Ice hockey in Los Angeles - Paul
My most memorable travel experience? Being swept up in the exhilarating energy of an ice hockey playoff game in LA. The thunderous cheers, the lightning-fast action on the ice, and the camaraderie among fans created an atmosphere that will forever ignite my passion for the sport.
The Pyramids - Peter
Egypt's Pyramids would have to be number 1 for my most memorable adventure! Standing in awe before these ancient wonders, I felt the weight of history and the magic of a civilization long past. The grandeur of the pyramids, the mysteries of the Sphinx, and the tales etched in hieroglyphics were a remarkable experience. Not only were the pyramids a highlight but sailing down the Nile and visiting the Valley of Kings was also a major highlight. I strongly recommend to everyone! I’d go tomorrow – the people and cultural experience is unmatched!
Machu Picchu - Lorraine
One of my most memorable travel experiences was a 3-day hike into Machu Picchu in May 2015. It was our very first hiking expedition and was amazing, but difficult. ‘Dead Womans’ Pass’ on the Inca Trail is the highest and most dreaded point of the hike and very high in altitude. Once you’ve reached this point, you’re on the downhill until you reach the historic Machu Picchu.On the final day, we started very early (around 3am) to hike and arrive at the Sun Gate for sunrise.Arriving here and viewing Machu Picchu in the distance was an emotional and exciting experience, all rolled into one.Spending the day walking around the ruins was an experience I will never forget.
My first overseas trip – Steph
Embarking on my first international adventure beyond the borders of Australia, I found myself bound for the tropical paradise of Bali, Indonesia. As I journeyed towards my villa, every moment was an enchanting revelation, surrounded by the unfamiliar sights and sounds of a foreign land. The sheer surrealism of it all struck me, igniting a deep appreciation for the privilege of travel and a burning desire to seek out new horizons, soak up knowledge, and weave a tapestry of extraordinary experiences. That transformative moment in Bali awakened a wanderlust within me, forever fuelling my insatiable thirst for exploration, learning, and the creation of cherished memories in every corner of the globe.
Ski season in Japan – Allanha
My most memorable travel experience has been skiing in Japan! From the moment I arrived, Japan welcomed me with its unique blend of ancient traditions and modern marvels. The slopes were pristine, and the landscape seemed to be straight out of a fairy tale. There’s nothing like the feeling of going down the slopes & then ending the day with hot chocolate at the ski resort.
Football in England – Jack
My most unforgettable travel experience? I’m a mad football fan and I just loved the electrifying atmosphere of a football match in England. Witnessing the beautiful game in its homeland created memories that will forever ignite my love for football.
Bella Italia - Cos
My most cherished travel experiences have unfolded in Italy. From the romantic train journey aboard the Venice Simplon-Orient Express, travelling from Venice to Paris, to indulging in the heavenly delights of Italian cuisine, including the finest food, wine, and the best ice cream. I found myself immersed in the culinary arts through a cooking school, and the charm of getting lost amidst the canals of Venice. Italy is my favourite place in the world and will always hold unforgettable memories within my heart.
USA’s South – Hannah
A travel experience not only close to my heart, but the most memorable would have to be when I lived in the United States for just shy of a year! We ventured through nearly every nook & cranny of the south, whilst indulging in all their food, music, arts & culture! A true highlight for me was when my family and I road-tripped to Atlanta, GA to watch the Atlanta Hawks vs New Orleans Pelicans basketball game. Not only was it an amazing experience to witness snow for the first time but driving past all the local towns covered in this beautiful season was amazing. Plus, watching the live basketball game was pretty exciting!
