Ciao tutti,

Welcome to my Italy …“la Vita Bella”

Ever wondered what it’s like to live like a local and get off the tourist track?

Get out of the cities and into the countryside where you can discover the charm and beauty of the Italian regions on this wonderful 14 nights Southern Italy small group tour, hosted by Bruna Macri.

Having just returned from Italy in August 2022, I realised how much I had missed the food!  The simplicity, flavoursome ingredients and a food culture that we all share.  It is such a passion and then couple that with wine – a beautiful combination! This tour not only showcases the beautiful art and architecture, it celebrates the history too and the opportunity to experience the signature dishes of each region: Arancini from Sicily,  Pasta Carbonara from Rome and so on!

Travelling with like-minded people is the best way to explore and discover the real Italy. This beautiful part of the world is home to no less than 13 UNESCO World Heritage cultural sites and is one of Italy's most underrated regions, with its abundance of history and one-of-a-kind architecture melded with an enviable coastline.

Italy's fertile south is a mouth-watering, belt-busting feast with long, lazy lunches at vine-framed Pugliese farmhouses; rich in an abundance of food and history.

Starting in Rome, the eternal city and be guided by a local expert to the Vatican and sites of Ancient Rome. We then transfer to Alberobello, famous for its trulli houses where we enjoy dinner at a typical masseria (local farmhouse).

Visit the stunning coastline and admire the Castellana Caves and Polignano di Mare, known for the beaches, like the white-pebble lama Monachile. Ostuni is known for its white washed old town, the cathedral combines Gothic, Romanesque and Byzantine elements.  The entire town is like a maze of tunnels, steps and buttresses.

We transfer from Alberbello to Taormina in Sicily with a stop in Matera enroute for a guided visit. The tour includes the Sassi area, a complex of cave dwellings carved into the mountainside.

Beautiful Sicily – with a visit to Mt Etna and Taormina.  We visit Syracuse known for its ancient ruins and the central Archaeological Park Neopolis comprising of the Roman Amphitheatre, the Teatro Greco and the Orechhio di Dionisio, a limestone cave shaped like a human ear. This is the beauty of southern Italy, centuries-old Roman ruins, stone villas, olive groves, vineyards, amongst stunning scenery along with restaurants with chequered tablecloths, beautiful food & wine and don’t forget gelati.

What are you waiting for, I look forward to hosting you on our small group to Southern Italy in September 2023!
