With international travel back on we look at the top holidays worldwide again for 2023. For the best part of two years, overseas travel has been a no go and when something is taken away from us, it gives us time to really think about it - “absence makes the heart grow fonder” as the saying goes! And while the trajectory for holidays to Europe for example is certainly on the up, the other great thing about looking at these top 10 destinations for 2023 is that three of them are still in Australia.

Broome & the Kimberley, Western Australia

This region of Western Australia has always been popular and now more than ever. 2021 and 2022 allowed a record number of Australian visitors here with it providing the opportune time to take in this stunning and unspoilt part of Australia. Horizontal Falls in the Kimberley was described by the great Sir David Attenborough as “one of the greatest natural wonders of the world”, and everyone who visits is inclined to agree! 2023 is already almost booked out for June, July and August and we have several exclusive small group holidays to Broome and the Kimberley in 2023, but you’ll need to be quick to secure your spot!

Mediterranean cruising

A holiday and region that just begs you to cruise it, from Turkey to France to Greece and Italy and everywhere in between. Sun-kissed beaches, undeniable history, superb food and wine and spectacular scenery is everyday Mediterranean cruising. There are so many fantastic packages out now, your only problem will be choosing which one sounds the best! Our cruise experts are always available to talk you through the options and which type of cruise will suit you.

Fiji

This much-loved holiday destination by many Aussies has been open for business since 1 December 2021, and with Fiji Airways increasing the direct flights from major Australian cities since then, it’s a no brainer. Enjoy relaxing days by the pool, cultural experiences and the warm and friendly hospitality of its beautiful people. Bula!

Bali

Another long-favoured holiday destination by Australians is on many people’s lists for 2023, with a large proportion of those set to be return travellers. Bali’s tourism industry suffered severely (as did others) during the pandemic with the destination heavily reliant on international tourists. Lucky it is loved by so many who just can’t wait to get back to its beautiful surrounds and beautiful people.

Lord Howe Island

Lord Howe remained one of the lesser travelled to destinations by many Australians prior to the pandemic. Fast forward two years and this is now well and truly on the radar. And for good reason. This relaxing, tropical island is home to some of the world’s best outdoor activities, natural beauty and biodiversity, making this World Heritage-listed island sanctuary the ultimate holiday escape. The island can only host a conservative number of visitors at one time too, adding to the exclusive feel and perfect for a complete unplug and recharge.

Southern Italy

Get out of the cities and into the countryside where you can discover the charm and beauty of the southern Italian regions. Italy's fertile south is a mouth-watering, belt-busting feast with long, lazy lunches at vine-framed Pugliese farmhouses; rich in an abundance of food and history. It’s also home to no less than 13 UNESCO World Heritage cultural sites and one-of-a-kind architecture melded with an enviable coastline.

London

London is often in the top places to travel, well, because it’s London. But beyond the iconic status, it’s a destination for both a short time and a long time. Explore the city’s integral history and it’s blend with the new, evident across its skyline. See a show in an old West End theatre, browse the iconic stores of Harrods and Fortnum & Mason, visit Buckingham Palace and ride the London Underground or ‘tube’ as the locals call it, everywhere with the city so widely spread. The annual Chelsea Flower Show is one of the many event drawcards too, with the 2023 show expected to be nothing short of amazing.

Red Centre & Top End, Northern Territory

Being on many Australians’ bucket lists as a must-do holiday, this has already come to fruition for numerous travellers throughout 2021 and 2022, who seized the opportunity to experience the magical Red Centre and tropical Top End sans the international crowds, with the demand continuing. We also know the Ghan rail journey between Darwin and Adelaide is firmly at the top for 2023, with very limited availability remaining (at the time of writing) for the entire season. We have a great selection of exclusive packages to the NT including touring, accommodation and the Ghan for 2023 and 2024.

Hawaii

It’s one of those holidays that immediately invokes ‘tropical paradise with shopping’! Whether you choose to cruise the famed group of islands or tour it independently, either is great and just a personal preference. The added ease of the cruise option means you get the full Hawaii experience as you visit some of the outer islands – Maui, Kauai and Hawaii – The Big Island.

Greek Islands

No surprises that one of the best ways to see the Greek Islands is via a once-in-a-lifetime cruise of your dreams through the stunning scenery, encompassing crystal clear waters, bright coloured buildings and that famous picture-perfect landscape. Slow down, take in the beauty, the food, the people, the climate and the relaxed way of life. And yes, you do need to come home!
