Hi! My name is Allanha and I am a travel specialist at Holidays of Australia & The World. When I think about my favourite travel destinations, Darwin is definitely at the top of my list.  I often get asked why I love Darwin so much, so I have listed a few reasons why I would highly recommend visiting this special place!

Royal Flying Doctor Service: this was my favourite activity to do in Darwin. By using a range of technologies, you don’t see every day, this facility brings the history of Darwin to life in the most wonderful ways. Through virtual reality, touch screen portals and even a life-sized replica of the plane flown during the bombing of Darwin, I believe this is one of the best ways to learn about Darwin’s history.

Mindl Beach Sunset Markets: during the months of April to October every Thursday & Sunday night, the city of Darwin comes to life at the Mindl Beach Sunset Markets. I had the pleasure of enjoying the VIP Mindl Beach Experience, where canapes and different cuisines were served with a range of locally provided entertainment. This market is filled with all different types of food stalls, arts and crafts, souvenirs & all things Darwin. To finish off the night, you cannot miss the beautiful sunset on Mindl Beach. Sit back and relax with a glass of champagne and enjoy.

Kakadu National Park: this has to be one of my most memorable travel experiences. From eating crocodile, something I never thought I would try, to glamping at the magical Cooinda Lodge, my visit to Kakadu National Park is one to remember. Hike to the top of Ubirr for a breath-taking view and experience some of the oldest Aboriginal Rock Art in history. Or if you are after something a little more relaxed, cruise down the Yellow Water Billabong in search of many different species of flora & fauna. You may even spot a few crocodiles along the way.

Matt Wright Airboats: for the more adventurous traveller, take a one-hour journey with Matt Wright across Darwin Harbour and ‘experience the unique thrill of an airboat’. This V8 airboat will have your heart racing as it takes off at full speed across Darwin’s wetlands, home to bird life & sea life. You will not want to miss this exciting Top End adventure.

Litchfield National Park: a must see when visiting the Top End. Home to incredible waterfalls and the iconic magnetic termite mounds, you will not want to miss this fascinating place. Beat the heat by taking a dip in Wangi Falls, or climb to the top of the many scenic lookouts.
