Sydney to Perth
The Indian Pacific, a legendary train journey, has been traversing the vast Australian continent for over 50 years. Departing from Sydney, this epic adventure takes you on a scenic exploration of diverse landscapes, from rugged mountains to arid deserts and lush forests. There's no better way to experience the heart and soul of Australia than aboard this iconic train.
Off Train Experiences
Broken Hill: Visit the Broken Hill Trades Hall, a heritage-listed building home to the city’s first labour movement. Enjoy a live performance by local actors showcasing the early mining story and life in Broken Hill.
Adelaide: After disembarking in Two Wells, enjoy a scenic coach ride to one of the world’s premier wine regions, the Barossa Valley. The cool summers and rainy winters are perfectly suited to red wine production, with Shiraz and richly flavoured Cabernet the stand-outs.
Nullarbor: Hidden in the vast interior of South Australia lies a ghost town that once bustled with life. Today, the town of Cook is home to lonely buildings and a population you can count on one hand – but in its heyday, the location was an important part of the development of Australia’s interior.
Perth to Sydney
For over half a century, the Indian Pacific has been traversing the vast Nullarbor Plain and the world's longest stretch of straight railway track. The extended, five-day eastbound itinerary provides more time to immerse yourself in the Australian landscape and experience the journey's unique highlights. With additional stops and immersive experiences, you'll have more opportunities to explore the diverse regions of Australia by train.
Off Train Experiences
Kalgoorlie: As the sunrise unfolds across Australia’s largest outback town, Kalgoorlie, the Indian Pacific pulls in, and guests are invited to join the first Off Train Experiences of the journey, delving into this mining town’s past and present, with a visit to the region’s gold-rush era, now modern-day, Super Pit mine.
Nullarbor: Hidden in the vast interior of South Australia lies a ghost town that once bustled with life. Today, the town of Cook is home to lonely buildings and a population you can count on one hand – but in its heyday, the location was an important part of the development of Australia’s interior.
Barossa Valley: Mid-afternoon, the train pulls into Two Wells, where you’ll disembark and transfer in comfortable coaches for a short ride to the world-renowned, wine-producing region of the Barossa Valley. You’ll spend the evening at Seppeltsfield Winery, delighting in a signature dining experience in the vintage cellar.
Broken Hill: Enjoy a hearty breakfast, ready for the day’s activities in the Silver City. You’ll have a choice of four Off Train Experiences, including guided history, art and cultural experiences that showcase the highlights of Australia’s first heritage-listed city.
Blue Mountains: The Blue Mountains is a World Heritage-listed area that is bound to delight your senses with its rugged cliffs, forests and formations. After disembarking, it’s onwards to Scenic World for four phenomenal mountain experiences. The Scenic Skyway takes you above ancient ravines, visible 270 metres below through the glass cabin floor.
